I’m back… with a new frock!

I’m back… with a new frock!

It’s been a little while, well a long while and soon I can explain where been, but we shall save that for another day!

Any way I simply must show you this Dress I purchased from a company via their face book page Curv’i’licious

Isn’t it fabulous?!

I paid approximately £30 with postage and could have returned it if it it was unsuitable.  I chatted to the owner and she was super helpful even with all my questions! I have a particular material I avoid, I hate pleats at the waist, and the list goes on!

This cold shoulder dress has a beautiful bright pattern which I adore! I am wearing a size 22 and felt extremely comfortable!

I’ve teemed it with bright pink strappy sandals from New Look which were £11 in the sale and are available Here.

I also managed to find a handbag in the exact same colour at a charity shop for £3.

As you can tell, I’ve also had a tan! Well a spray tan! I had an express tan at La Mia Bella at a bargain cost of £12 and if your local to Rhonda Cynon Taff you can visit the salon Here.

Overall I felt great about my outfit and had a fabulous night out! I won’t lie- my feet are still crying from those shoes so maybe a little gel pad would help out next time!

Check out my Instagram for some cheeky snaps of my night out! @lauramcfabulous

Lots of love

Hard times

Hard times

Doesn’t it seem some times that your work life takes over the rest of your life?

Work has been hard lately and it has taken it out of me a little.

I have been spending lots of time taking care, or trying too, of other people and not really looking out for myself.

Something clicked with me today and I realised how much I had been missing the things I enjoy doing. Like blogging and interacting with other bloggers for example.

I spent some time with friends and family this weekend, and after a lovely walk at barrybados, my head became a little clearer.

We don’t have children, so this little lady is the centre of my universe. I realised how much I love to see her enjoy herself, and how much I’d missed her the last few weeks. I’ve been with her in body but my spirit has been elsewhere.

I’ve started reorganising my life, de cluttering the house, and getting back to my organised self!

Life is short and I have so many things to look forward too so time to work hard and achieve my goals!

Next week I have a River Island style session which I won through a lovely blog written by the gorgeous Naomi. Here’s the link: http://www.diamondsnpearls.co.uk/category/life/

So much to look forward too! Back in the game!!

Stay focussed

Feeling loved 💗

Feeling loved 💗

During the last few weeks, I have been really unwell with the campylobacter virus.  If you have had it, you know how miserable it can be!

It started at work which was awful, and a few hours later I was being sick in a bush while walking my dog.  Another classy moment for me.

My boyfriend was away, rocking at download festival, so I felt really sorry for myself!

My best friend turned up with medication, food, drinks and even took my dog out for me. She’s a legend! One day, she was with me for hours even though she had ‘just popped in’.  Turns out she stayed because I was so pale she was worried about me.

Love this woman!

My work buddies have also been checking in with me daily, sending me jokes, gossip and generally cheering me up!

Other friends have gone to great lengths to find dairy free biscuits (people with the virus are advised to avoid dairy) as well as delivering lots of lovely magazines!

I’ve never really been poorly so it raised my spirits knowing how many people care about me, and I’m extremely thankful.

I’m still on the mend (and really pale!) but would like to go back to work tomorrow to see how I feel!

Look after your loved ones

Curvy convention 2016: 1st rehearsal April

Curvy convention 2016: 1st rehearsal April

Omg it was brilliant!!

Not the best opening line for a post but, I was buzzing with excitement!

The day started in sunny Pontypridd at 10am when I set off to London!

I didn’t have a clue what to expect so I plastered on the slap and packed about five pairs of shoes!

The rehearsal took place in the Dance Attic studios in Fulham. I was impressed that not only did I find it, I also managed to find a parking space and not get a fine!!

I met the other girls and get instantly more relaxed.  They were so friendly and chatty- right up my street!

Then the hard work began.

I’m not kidding.

I’ve never done anything like this before in my life, and there was lots to take in and learn.

We had a fabulous teacher – Glenn Ball. We jumped straight in and worked solidly for hours!

I felt awkward next to the other girls at some points because they just ‘got it’. But I’ve come this far and I’m not going to let myself down now!! Practise makes perfect!

It was a long day, especially with the travel, but 100% worth it.

One rehearsal down, two to go!! I am so excited about the convention!!

Not only is it something I have been wanting to attend for a few years, it is also something that is going to challenge me!

What’s your challenge?

My birthday surprise

My birthday surprise

It was my birthday this week and I was 28- again, obvs.

Any how, after a not so good start to 2016 and mostly drama after that my beloved had arranged a surprise for me.

I have been so poorly the last few weeks with the dreaded man flu that I hadn’t really thought about my birthday.

So the day started with me waking up sneezing and coughing, which has been pretty standard with this virus.  I was presented with a big box of presents by my beloved which was nice. However when I started opening them, I was to be honest confused and disappointed. Turns out he had bought me a ‘mystery box’ from groupon. Apparently some of them have iPads in…. This one didn’t.

Before you decide that I am ungrateful, I would like to point out that the items in the mystery box were items that we already own. I simply hate wasting money.

I went to the hair dressers in a bit of a grump. A few years ago he pulled the groupon number on my birthday, it was even worse then the mystery box. The boy just loves a bargain.

There was still hope though, as he was still taking me out for lunch. I went home with my new hair and we had a cup of tea.

He told me that the mystery box was a joke (thank god) and my real present was…..

I couldn’t believe it! He’s not very romantic and this was such a huge shock!

He’d even arranged pet care for our fur babies!!

So off we went to the very beautiful hotel, and had the best massage in ages. I felt like Mr Soft!!

I can not explain easily how delicious, luxurious and throughly enjoyable my birthday was. So I will let the pictures do the talking for me.

Next was afternoon tea. It was simply delicious…

Next the room….

The boy had gone all out! I couldn’t believe it!

St Davids also sent up a little message…

In the evening we went into the bay for dinner, where once again my beloved had a surprise for me.

He had asked some of my friends from Swansea to come and meet us! We all work full time and have such busy lives that it can be difficult to get everyone together, so it was so wonderful to see them!

There was one more surprise..

THE CAKE!! We do not have children but we do have fur babies and we adore them! My beloved decided that they needed to part of the celebrations too!

It was such a wonderful day, I’m stil in shock that he managed to pull it all off without me finding out!

I loved every second of it and didn’t want to leave the hotel!

I mean, look….

I was dreading turning 34. I am some times led to believe that I have failed at life because I am not a millionaire, married or a mother. But these are other people’s beliefs, not my failings.

I have so so SO much to be grateful for in my life – my beloved and my absolutely amazing friends mean so much to me.

Take some you time and enjoy life.

Well I never!

Well I never!

So it’s been a while.

I always say this and I’m sorry- life just takes over sometimes! I missed you guys and hope you are all well!

So this curvy convention audition……

Like I said in my previous post I had a blast! I never thought any thing would come of it. I was just grateful to meet such great women and proud that I worked up the guts to go!

However, that’s not actually the end of it! I was one of the 35 girls to be chosen!! I have never been quite so excited about anything! Another chance to see these amazing women, play dress up and strut my stuff- I can’t contain myself!!

What happens next?

I have to attend some cat walk lessons! It’s so exciting! Then the big day is in May! No doubt I will have lots to tell you!

Thanks to every one for their amazing support! Especially to a group of wonderful women on Facebook who support, push and respect each other and helped me to do this.

Stay body positive!

Curvy convention- more than just an audition

Curvy convention- more than just an audition

After loosing my beloved grandfather a few weeks ago, it made me think about my life a little more.

I go to work and I work really really hard, and then I come home. I don’t go out that much and I don’t have any real hobbies.

Is that living? Maybe. I want to be like my grandad. At the grand old age of 93, he was able to look back on his life and his achievements. An intelligent, well read and well travelled man. Life was always an adventure to him and I want the same for me!

The first thing I did was to stop being scared and put myself way out of my comfort zone. I went to London and auditioned to be a model for the curvy convention, a plus sized fashion convention in the UK.

I was terrified!!!!

I needed some support so turned to a plus sized group on Facebook that I have been a member of for over a year.

I got in touch with some of the lovely ladies who were going and a few of us decided to meet up- saftey in numbers and all that!

I met the wonderful Sarah and Natasha. They met me at the tube station and we stayed as a little group all day long. It was lovely to be made to feel so welcome in the big smoke!

There were over 200 beautiful ladies in the line to audition. Some were professionals with amazing portfolios, which was a little intimidating. However we decided that they all had to start some where, just like us!

We met the current UK Miss Beauty Curve, Emily Blake who was not only gorgeous but one of the nicest ladies you could meet!

The actual audition didn’t last long at all! A photo and a mini walk up and down a room and you were done! I don’t feel like I did very well but for a valleys girl it was a big step!

After it was done, we decided to use Leicester Square as our own personal cat walk! We were so pleased that we had over come our nerves and our fears and done it that we were hyped up!

Look at us! Three girls who had never met before having the best few hours and making new friendships! It was brilliant and hilarious!

We find out in a few weeks if we were successful. I hope that we are!

But if I am not than at least I can tick it off my bucket list!

Be bold, brave and challenge yourself. What have you got to lose?
